Steps
We help you work through the 10 simple Steps to plan and facilitate a brainstorm.
| Step 1. | Map out a clear direction and strategy. We prefer to use a creative brief to ensure agreement in advance among all parties. (Download ours, below.) |
| Step 2. | Determine the creative criteria. How will you select the best idea? |
| Step 3. | Research the topic to understand the situation and target audience mindset. |
| Step 4. | Define the roles. You - either as active participant or a silent presence. Us - facilitator, mediator, energy-maker, listener and writer. |
| Step 5. | Prepare the environment: location, games and exercises, food and drink. |
| Step 6. | Invite the right people - prolific idea people who want to challenge the status quo. Sleepy, oxygen-sucking, mute people go elsewhere. |
| Step 7. | Minimise negativity, the single biggest reason why brainstorms fail. It's our job to prevent it occurring. |
| Step 8. | Go for maximum volume of ideas. Of all ideas generated in a brainstorm, 90% will be unusable, but 10% will be brilliant. The more ideas we have, the more brilliant ideas you'll have. |
| Step 9. | Work until we get the idea, then reward and recognise the team. |
| Step 10. | Wrap-up the brainstorm in a way which will help you translate the ideas into workable solutions. |
